What is Reflexology ?Reflexology is a scientifically proven healing art which has its roots tied to many ancient cultures from Egypt, India, Asia and the Americas. Its practical use was documented by these cultures as far back as 5,000 years ago. Over the past 100 years Reflexology has re-surfaced as a viable form of therapeutic massage. Through modern-day research and documented clinical studies, Reflexology has emerged as a tangible and practical mode of complementary health care. How does it work?Reflexology is based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all body parts and systems. The physical act of applying specific pressures using precise techniques results in stress reduction which causes a physiological change in the body. Reflexology helps to re-align the delicate metabolic balance that the body strives to maintain for optimal health. The body inherently knows how to heal itself, and with the assistance of Reflexology as a means of restoring the proper flow of energy, the body is able to perform its functions of recharging and self-healing. What will it be like?Relaxation is the most important ideology behind a successful Reflexology session. You are encouraged to submit yourself to 30-minutes or one-hour of self-indulgence and let the stresses of daily life drain away from your tired, strained feet or hands. Both feet and/or hands will be thoroughly worked upon. All of the reflexes reflected in the body will be stimulated with specific pressures. You are expected only to enjoy the experience of your session. If this means sleeping, talking or meditating, that is up to you. This is your time of relaxation, balancing, and self-healing. After the session, we will discuss your response, the areas of blocked energy flow discovered and what this means to your overall health, then decide on a schedule for further treatments. It is important for you to understand that I am not a medical doctor. Therefore I cannot and will not diagnose or attempt to treat any medical condition that you may presently have. Where can I get a session?Sessions done in the comfort of your own home, office or affiliated spa/massage center throughout the Twin Cities Area. Cost of a session ranges from $30-$60. Please Note: Be wary of massage centers who advertise that they provide Reflexology, yet their massage therapists have not actually been trained in Reflexology. Many of these therapists have merely been exposed to Reflexology briefly, but have never been formally trained in technique and theory. Ask about the extent of their training and/or experience. If they cannot provide you with more than a few hours' worth of formal training, you may want to seek elsewhere for a TRUE Reflexology experience. |
